As previously mentioned, I’m a beginner runner and I got my start following Cool Running’s Couch to 5K program. The plan recommends you walk/run 3 days a week for about 30 mins to build up to a 5k run. I haven’t been able to be consistent with the program, that’s one of my personality traits I’m struggling with, so I’ve been trying everything I can to figure out what motivation will keep me consistent.
The idea for this page is to schedule in my jogs for the week and come back to confirm that I did them. Let’s see if this helps with accountability!
2011′s Runs:
May 27: 35 min run outside. 5k run/walk.
May 29: Toronto Women’s Run 5k! 40:02
June 20: 40 min run outside. 5k run/walk.
June 21: 60 min walk outside. 5k walk (mostly at a leisurely pace).
2010′s Runs:
Feb. 7: 20 min run outside at night. It was tough in the cold, plus I’m so out of shape after not running in over 6 weeks. ![]()
Feb. 15: 60 min run/walk outside. Very cold and difficult, but did a total distance of 4.65 miles
Mar. 4: 40 min run outside. 5k run/walk.
Mar. 9: 38 min run outside. 5k run/walk.
Mar. 11: 35 min run outside. 5k run/walk. Ran 1 km straight for the first time! ![]()
Mar. 22: Treadmill run. Ran 1 mile straight for the first time in about 10:30 min!
Run/walked another mile.
Mar. 30: 30 min run outside. 5k run/walk.
Apr. 3: ~35-40 min run outside. 5k run/walk. Went jogging with a friend, so didn’t keep track of time.
Apr. 7: 15 min run outside. 2k run/walk.
Apr. 18: 40 min run outside. 4.5 k run/walk. More walking than running.
Apr. 18: 40 min run outside. 6.1 k run/walk. More running than walking. [I ran to my sister's house, hung out with her for about an hour, then ran back home, so I'm counting this as two separate workouts.]
Apr. 21: 30 min run outside. 3k run/walk + walking lunges.
May 15: Walk of Life 5k run/walk. Completed in 44:28. More walking than running.
May 30: 40 min run outside. 5k run/walk. More walking than running.
2009′s attempts:

Tues. Nov. 17: 30 min walk/jog outdoors Treadmill - done! (+ 40 min 1.25 km swim)
Thurs. Nov. 19: 30 min walk/jog outdoors – Fail due to rain and migraine
Sat. Nov. 21: 30 min walk/jog treadmill + 30 min make-up for Thurs. Fail! (But swam 1.25km in 40 min.)
Sun. Nov. 22: 30 min walk/jog treadmill (finally!) (+ New PR: 1.25 km swim in 30 min + 50 min pilates class)
Due to my inconsistency last week, I’ll have to re-do week 3 this week.

Because of my crazy week full of assignment deadlines and all-nighters, I didn’t have any will or energy to run
